This emptiness makes me wanna die

Quote
Robin Finck, who played guitar in one incarnation of Guns N’ Roses, reproduces some of the dozens of harsh guitar tones Reznor has written over the years, and is not averse to swinging his guitar on its strap like a pendulum and skipping across the stage when Reznor isn’t using it.

I was reading that stuff & was reminisced of the first few times when I saw Robin, of the reasons why I became a fan. Though I found him cute, the reason I was attracted was the way he moved & used the stage. The guy jumped everywhere (fi, 'Wish' on AATCHB) & was the only one who could challenge Trent on a stage. He was totally worth my attention, :bgrin:

So, what made you become a fan? Was it the way he moves? His crazy faces? His guitar playing? :err:

I don't. . . know.
Honestly? I think it could be his aura.
There's something strangely intense about Robin that drew me in, and is now holding me captive.
Plus of course, you know, he plays like a demon and he's fun to watch and he makes awesome faces.

When Robin plays. . he's not just playing the notes. He IS music.

I first became enamored with him the first time I watched AATCHB (somewhere around early 2005, before all the With Teeth stuff started happening- he was the first NIN guitarist I knew).  I can't really pinpoint why I liked him so much then, but now, it's because he is so much fun to watch- and he's SUCH an interesting man. The funny faces go along for the ride, too.  :hihihi:

Nothing clever to say.

My first impression of Robin was that I liked the way he played and moved onstage.  As for the shallow stuff I'm a fan of makeup on guys, and yeah I thought he was cute too.  Anyway, that was when I was 15 and it was based on watching his performance with GN'R at the 2002 MTV VMAs.  I didn't even like GN'R, but I liked Robin because I thought he (along with the rest of the band) put on a good show and made it fun despite the fact that Axl's performance totally blew chunks.  I vaguely remember watching NIN at the 1999 VMAs but I had no opinion of Robin at that time, since I wasn't even a NIN fan then.

Of course I have 10x more reasons for why I'm a fan of Robin now, but that's where it started.  I also agree with FreeFallin that there is this intensity about him that also drew me in.

I watched the Woodstock performance, i was 16 and already a NIN fan but i had no idea how much of a fan until i saw Robin on stage writhing and stomping......i still remember pausing every frame and thinking WOW! I really like the way this guy plays, the emotion he was showing blew me away. 14 years later, he is still blowing me away  :bgrin:

for me it was Rock AM Ring 2006 with GNR.

He was amazing and despite everyone else onstage...Robin was the one you wanted to see the most, the look, everything was brilliant. So I tracked back and saw some NIN stuff. Was amazed by Finck.

his backing vocals and appearance amazed me. and still does
